This version was recorded live in studio, during a jam in July 2004. Officially, the story behind this song is that Steve entered a songwriting contest to win a microphone. The songs had to incorporate all of the words in a list. He didn't win the mic, but as the saying goes, at least he got a song out of it. With Steve, though, we may never know the real story behing this song.

Lyrics

Wanda (Blue Haired Girl)

Music and lyrics by Steve Normand

When I look at photographs of blonde haired girlfriends I feel kind of blue
Then I thank the Lord for that night in Fresno when I met you
You were working at the toadstool playing a bagpipe to some disco beat
After I finished my artichoke I saw you walking down the street
Wanda I know its true Wanda I will never be blue
Wanda my blue haired girl
Wanda I wrote this song because I love your polyunsaturated thong
Wanda my blue haired girl

So I stopped by and asked you if maybe you needed a ride
The way you hopped in my Pinto I knew our love would not subside
Then I asked if you knew Dino my beatnik friend who was kind of a blob
You said I guess you could say that oh yes I've twisted his knob
So I said please excuse me because I think I'm going to hurl
Then you said I love you Chewy I want to be your blue haired girl
Wanda I know its true Wanda I will never be blue
Wanda my blue haired girl
Wanda I wrote this song because I love your polyunsaturated thong
Wanda my blue haired girl
Wanda let's hit the sack because my spatula needs your flapjack
Wanda my blue haired girl
